Course Overview

Learning to read and write Chinese will give you a lifetime of intellectual stimulation.
At HKMLC we introduce you to Chinese character writing and reading in a systematic and comprehensive way.
Traditional Chinese is used in regions like Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, while Simplified Chinese is used in Mainland China, Singapore and other areas.

Elementary Course

This course helps students to acquire a fundamental knowledge of how Chinese characters work.
At the conclusion of this course, students will be familiar with at least 400 of the most frequently used characters in newspapers
Students will also be able to recognise approximately 50% of the characters used in books.

Intermediate Course

This course enables students to recognize at least 900 of the most frequently used Chinese characters and 70% of the characters encountered in everyday reading as well.
